Q. Before the name N'Front, many fans knew you as "Gerald's Girls." What did those years on the road with Gerald Levert teach you about professionalism, performance, and what it truly means to connect with an audience night after night?

N'Front: Gerald was a perfectionist. Because of his dedication to delivering a flawless performance, I still remember many of the cues and transitions in the songs to this day. Connecting with the audience came naturally because G effortlessly brought incredible energy to the stage, making it easy for us to feed off that and connect with the crowd.

Q. Gerald Levert wasn't just one of the greatest voices in R&B—he was known for pouring into the people around him. What's a lesson he shared that still influences the way you approach music and life today?

N'Front: The biggest lesson I learned was to give it your all and leave everything on the stage. Gerald was a competitor. Whenever there were other performers on the bill, he made sure we did everything we could to out-sing, out-perform, and outshine everyone else. I still carry that mindset with me and try to bring that same level of passion and excellence to every performance.

Q. Reuniting to honor Gerald on what would have been his birthday feels bigger than releasing a song—it feels personal. At what point did this tribute become something you knew you had to do?

N'Front: During the pandemic, Herb Middleton appeared on a podcast we were participating in and offered to produce a tribute song honoring Gerald. We all put our heads together and wrote individual verses that reflected our personal experiences with G. Together, we created a song we're incredibly proud of—one that represents what he meant to each of us. It was, and always will be, important for people to know just how deeply he impacted our lives, especially through music.

Q. Every harmony tells a story. When the four of you stepped back into the studio together after all these years, did it feel like time had stood still, or did you discover a new chemistry that only comes with life experience?

N'Front: Loss has a way of making you hold on tighter than you ever expected. Reuniting after so many years apart brought back countless wonderful memories. We laughed, we cried, we shared stories, and ultimately created a tribute we believe G would be proud of. Life experiences have shaped who we are today, and the lessons Gerald taught us continue to guide us every step of the way.

Q. Herb Middleton has helped shape the sound of some of R&B's most memorable records. What has his belief in N'Front meant as you've transitioned from legendary background vocalists into artists with your own identity?

N'Front: We've always been artists in our own right because we performed outside of Gerald's shows as well. However, working with Herb has brought us even closer together. He's given us the opportunity to strengthen our bond—not only as vocalists but as a team—and that's been invaluable.

Q. Background singers are often the unsung heroes of music. After spending years helping elevate other artists, how rewarding is it to finally have people hear the voices—and the stories—behind the harmonies?

N'Front: It's both enlightening and humbling to finally be able to step from behind the curtain and share our stories while standing front and center.

Q. R&B has always been rooted in authenticity, emotion, and storytelling. In an era driven by trends and algorithms, where do you believe N'Front fits into today's musical landscape?

N'Front: Each of us brings our own individual gifts and talents to the table. When we come together, we've created a sound that's uniquely ours—one that reflects who we are and allows listeners to identify with us on a genuine level.

Q. The video for your Gerald Levert tribute is filled with love and reverence. What emotions surfaced during that shoot, and were there moments where you simply had to pause and take it all in?

N'Front: Absolutely. Each of us had moments where we had to pause, both individually and as a group, to humble our hearts and reflect on the incredible opportunity Gerald gave us. Remembering him made it easy to pour genuine emotion into every scene.

Q. Looking back on your journey—from sharing stages around the world with Gerald Levert to standing center stage as N'Front—what does this chapter represent for each of you personally?

N'Front: This chapter represents purpose, growth, and God's perfect timing. Touring with Gerald taught us professionalism, excellence, and how to truly connect with people through music. Today, standing center stage as N'Front is more than a career milestone—it's a testimony. We've gone from supporting someone else's vision to fully embracing our own, and we're grateful for every lesson that brought us here.

Q. If Gerald could see N'Front today—still singing, still standing together, still carrying yourselves with grace—what do you think he'd say before walking offstage with that unmistakable smile?

N'Front: I believe he'd smile and say, "I'm proud of you. Keep going. Stay humble, stay true to the music, and never stop giving people your heart." Gerald believed in authenticity, and I think he'd be happy to see us honoring the legacy of real R&B while creating our own.

Q. Beyond this tribute, what do you want listeners to discover about N'Front that they've never had the opportunity to hear before?

N'Front: I want people to discover that we're more than background singers. We're artists, storytellers, songwriters, and women with our own unique journeys. Our music is rooted in real-life experiences, faith, perseverance, and love. We want listeners to connect with who we are—not just what we've done.

Q. When the story of N'Front is written years from now, what do you hope people remember most—not just about the music, but about the sisterhood, the journey, and the legacy you're continuing to build?

N'Front: I hope people remember that we stayed true to ourselves, supported one another, and never gave up on the dream. More than the music, I want our legacy to be one of resilience, faith, love, and unity. If our journey inspires someone else to keep believing in their own purpose, then we've accomplished something far greater than success—we've made a lasting impact.
