Once upon a time in the streets of the Bay Area, there was a character who took "saving" a little too literally — Captain Save 'Em. Inspired by the legendary E-40 and The Click, he donned a bright red cape, a blue sweatshirt with a large "C" on the chest, and a ball cap, all to symbolize his self-proclaimed hero status. Armed with a goofy grin, oversized sunglasses, and Bay Area slang, he was always ready to swoop in whenever he saw somebody in need—mostly women with questionable relationship choices.
First things first, August 11th 2023 marked the 50th Anniversary of hip-hop — What exactly does that mean to and for you?
Hip-hop is a way of life; it's how I dress, talk, dance, my music, my memories from a kid to a man, and it's my future!
To quote the late, great The Notorious B.I.G., “You never thought that hip-hop would take it this far!” — Was this something that you ever could’ve imagined?
No, because we were up against the machine from day one, and it's beautiful to see we won!
What are some of your fondest, most stand-out moments / memories during your lengthy tenure in this thing called hip-hop?
Creating my brand as “Captain Save a Hoe” with E-40 & The Click, and T.W.D.Y.; Ant Banks, Too Short, Rappin’ 4-Tay and myself.
That said, what are your future plans and / or goals for the 2026 season?
I have some new music, television and film projects; one with Ice Cube, MacShawn100 and myself as executive producers.
Switching gears here, what exactly do you want people to get from your music?
I want to get back to the fun and creativity in music.
If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
2Pac [Tupac]; his heartfelt passion for kids and women, people in general, and the art; music, acting, etcetera.
If you could play any venue in the world, which one would you choose and why?
Not sure, I gotta get back to you on that.
On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of hip-hop?
Yes and No // Yes, because you can express yourself through art; music, DJ, dance // No, because we let anyone in and abuse it, and not give back to it and respect our heroes.
What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?
Just the love I put out and receive as a person and an artist.
Do you have any other outside / additional (future) aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?
Yes, I’m currently working on a few tech projects [Sass Apps], and real estate investment & development, wellness products, and something with food.
What’s an average day like for you?
I have a management company and a television and film production company, so it's a lot of conference calls, Zoom meetings, negotiating deals, contract reviewing, and social media posting and engaging with fans.
What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? And, why?
Favorite is business; I love the art of business…the least is the BS that comes with that.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Just Do! If you’ve already done the research and know what direction you want to go in and do, now execute!
Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?
Selling my tech company for a billion dollars, contributing to others to help them succeed, #1 movies and TV shows, family healthy and secure. Just Happy!
Is there anything I left out or just plain forgot to mention?
I have a book & soundtrack coming out titled “I WANNA BE SAVED.”
Any “parting” words for our readers?
Just want to say thank you for wanting to interview me, I appreciate it 100%!
