“I'm feelin’ it, fill the glass to the top with Moet;
Feelin' it (Marcy), feel the Lex pushing up on the set (Brooklyn),
I'm feelin' it, feel the high that you get from the lah;
Feelin' it, if you feel it raise your L in the sky…” — Jay-Z & Mecca “Feelin’ It”
Chances are more than likely one already knows her recognizable voice, however the name may or may not yet ring a bell. Mark these words though, that’ll all soon change. Having provided the breezy chorus on the fourth and final single, “Feelin’ It,” produced by Ski and taken from Jay-Z's multi-platinum foundational 1996 LP, Reasonable Doubt, Mecca, is prepping for the forthcoming unveiling of ‘Feelin’ It: A Hip-Hop Memoir’; sure to be a bestseller…Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
What was it about now, specifically at this particular stage in both your life and career, that prompted this decision?
Sometimes the truth needs time to ripen. I’ve lived in silence about parts of my story for decades—not because I was hiding, but because I was healing. Now, with the wisdom of experience and the clarity of hindsight, I knew it was finally time. This memoir is about nostalgia and reclamation. Of voice. Of legacy. Of self.
What can actually be expected from this upcoming body of work?
‘Feelin’ It: A Hip-Hop Memoir’ is raw, reflective, and unfiltered. It’s not just about what happened—it’s about what it meant. Expect truth, art, music, and moments that shaped an era, told from a woman who lived it in real time and lived to tell it. I won’t give it all away—but know this: it’s bigger than the hook.
Do you feel you covered everything you wanted, or will there be more volumes?
This book holds the weight of what needed to be said now. But, life doesn’t fit neatly into chapters. There may very well be more volumes down the line. When you’ve lived a layered life, sometimes one book isn’t enough.
What’s the biggest takeaway you want readers to walk away with?
That your story is still yours, even if someone else tries to write the ending. I want people—especially women—to feel seen, heard, and reminded that legacy is something you build, even when no one’s watching.
What else can we look forward to from the book tour?
The Hip-Hop Memoir Tour™ is more than a promo run—it’s a cultural pull-up. Expect intimate conversations, unexpected truths, and a reminder of who really helped shape the soundtrack of our lives. Book signings, podcast appearances, and city stops that honor the roots of this journey.
