Pop isn’t just about catchy hooks—it’s about energy, resilience, and reinvention. Few artists embody that spirit better than Debbie Gibson. Bursting onto the scene in the late ’80's with unstoppable hits like "Only in My Dreams" and "Electric Youth," she didn’t just ride the wave of teen stardom—she helped define it. Fast-forward to today, and Gibson is still dazzling audiences with her fearless creativity, whether she’s dropping new music, lighting up Broadway, or connecting with fans across generations.
This past September you unleashed a brand new autobiographical book, ‘Eternally Electric: The Message in My Music’ — What was it about now, specifically at this particular stage in both your life and career, that prompted this decision? Conceptually, what does this title represent both to and for you?
This is how I live my life. It is the embodiment of what it means to be ageless, and to remain vital as long as you want to!
Without giving away or revealing too much, what all can actually be expected from this new body of work?
I would describe it as part diary, part career retrospective and behind the scenes, part motivation and self-help, part discography - especially in the case of the audio book where I burst out into song…it is one hundred percent a snapshot of where I am, and who I am now and then!
In retrospect, do you actually feel that you were able to encapsulate or cover absolutely everything that you had initially wanted to or will there more than likely be more volumes futuristically speaking?
I am already formulating the follow up, the documentary, the musical movie…there are so many layers, and so many more things to cover in different mediums over time, though I think I found a good balance of covering a lot of things and going deep where needed.
For your audience / readers, what do you think or even want the biggest take-away to / will be?
The power of self-love and belief and resilience.
With it, also came your current single, “Legendary (Me&Lee Mix)” — How then does this composition either differ and / or compare to previous Debbie Gibson entries?
I think it is a song that can’t be compared to any other, and is a combo of styles; from Rock to the rhythm of Cockney rhyming slang, and so many influences…Gospel, piano based songwriting, and all while talking about the message of being kind and rooting for others, all while focusing on bettering yourself and evolving.
If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Still holding out for Billy Joel! I also love Conan Gray!!
If you could play any venue in the world, which one would you choose and why?
I would love to return to Radio City and Madison Square Garden, and I would love to own my own intimate venue someday!

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of music?
I think there is so much brilliance, heart, mad skills, and personality amongst the current artists out there; from Raye to Sabrina (Carpenter) to Ed (Sheeran)...and beyond. It is an amazing time for music in my opinion.
What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?
Staying current, and not thinking everything great was done yesterday…fastest way to age out! That, and good old fashioned stamina and desire to take the knocks and keep on going. As I sing in "Legendary," “Dust off the dirt and just move on!"
Do you have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?
To own a dog rescue or animal sanctuary!
What’s an average day like for you?
Ha,ha! No two are alike, and that is what I love about my life! On the road, I am traveling, unpacking, repacking, cooking eggs on a hotplate in hotel rooms, doing meet and greets ‘til midnight after concerts, but when I am home I am in bed with my dogs by sundown!
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans...
I take them in fully, and see each individual person as being special and valuable and having a story to tell. I am aware that they cherish their time with me, and that
they have put forth their time, energy, and hard-earned money to show up, so I want to give them the best experience possible and send them on their way with an extra bounce in their step!
What is your favorite part about this line of work?
Interacting with people through music and traveling!
Your least favorite? And, why?
Honestly, I am so not in a mood to whine about anything, cuz any challenges are in the context of a life I chose and designed for myself!

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Be you, and stay the course.
Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?
Doing what I am doing now, plus with some more movies and theater that I create
out there, as well as orchestrating and conducting and surrounded by dogs!
As for the immediate, what’s next for Debbie Gibson?
Going to the outlet mall here in Vegas today, and then for a swim. That is literally my day today! But in showbiz, more book appearances and concerts, and continually writing songs that will end up on my next album.
Is there anything I left out or just plain forgot to mention?
No. You’re thorough!
Any “parting” words for our readers?
Stay Eternally Electric! I had to…
